Deep Creek Lake is perfect for biking – whether you’re looking to mountain bike or ride the challenging terrain on the roads!
Mountain Biking
Our mountainous terrain makes for a wonderful mountain biking experience! Many of the area’s hiking trails are also suited for biking. Wisp Resort offers mountain biking trails in between and down their ski slopes – they even add attachments to the chairlift to take your bike up to the top with you! Other popular mountain biking spots include Fork Run Recreation Area, Deep Creek Lake State Park, Garrett State Forest, and New Germany State Park. Some parks and recreation areas offer rentals, too! You can also rent bikes at High Mountain Sports.
Road Biking
Deep Creek Lake is home to the Savageman Triathlon: one of the toughest triathlons around! We also have the Garrett County Gran Fondo each June! Our rural area and high elevation have proven to be some of the toughest climbs around. After the threat of winter has left, the roads department sweeps the roads and it’s smooth sailing for cyclists until fall. You can followed mapped routes from previous races or find routes on Strava! If you’re not super competitive with your biking, our area is still great to casually cruise around!
Fat-Tire Biking
Just because there’s snow doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a two-wheeled adventure! Many of the parks and rec areas you mountain bike on are suitable for fat-tire biking.
